Congress appears to be a forgiving place these days amongst House Democrats.
By a vote of 150-43 Nancy Pelosi will become the House minority leader after presiding over a historical party drubbing at midterm elections. What does she have over everybody that we don’t know about? Can her goodwill possibly run that deep? Apparently so.
Charlie Rangel, the former chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means has been found guilty of eleven ethics violations by the House ethics panel. Punishment has not been doled out, but by all reports it will not result in expulsion, only a hand slapping.
You’ve heard it said before – if Congress were run like a company it would be much more efficient.
If the House were run like a company and Nancy Pelosi or Charlie Rangel was the CEO they would be negotiating their severance packages. See Mark Hurd, ex CEO of Hewlett Packard.
The definition of accountability appears to be in a constant state of flux in Washington.
