Isn’t It Time for E-Textbooks?

One of my favorite comics to read in the morning is Zits.  Here was the strip from yesterday, the first day of school.

If you’ve ever picked up your kid’s back pack you’ll understand this is a real problem.  The older they get the worse it gets.  Most decide to lug all of their books around because they don’t trust the locks on the school lockers – or so they say.

So, here is an idea.  Why doesn’t each new or used textbook come with a e-copy that can be downloaded on to an e-reader.  The cost of providing this “license” for a semester, year or permanently would be insignificant.  As a student any e-reader would be a better solution for class.
