Let’s start with the quote, “I think last year proved we’re close,” Bohn said. “It’s very similar to what’s going on with men’s basketball. We’re close. But yet that last difference is very difficult to achieve.”
This was University of Colorado AD Mike Bohn commenting yesterday on the state of CU’s football program on national signing day. Later in the evening the CU basketball Buffs almost pulled off the college basketball upset of the year by nearly beating #1 Kansas.
Does 3-9 in 2009 and 16-33 in four years look close? Close to disaster, maybe, for a once proud football program. In contrast, close(r) is losing 27 games over three years by single digits for a basketball program clearly on the rise.
The only way to these two programs are close is they share the same logo. CU basketball is going upward as fast as CU football is headed down.
“We’re not into moral victories,” Colorado basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik said. “We have to learn how to close out games. It’s about winning.”
There was a time when CU football was about winning too. Take note Mr. Bohn.
